Trailer hire for Drayton and the rest of Toowoomba
Our yard is at 580 Anzac Ave, Drayton, on the south-west side of Toowoomba. Because pick-up is self-serve once you've paid, you can come any time that suits.
- Drayton and Darling Heights: the closest suburbs to the yard, including the UniSQ side of town. Student moves tend to bunch up around the start of each UniSQ trimester; a 12x6 tandem or 8x5 tandem handles a share-house move in one or two trips.
- Harristown, Kearneys Spring and Newtown: a short run to Anzac Ave. Good for house clean-outs, tip runs and moving furniture. The 8x6 heavy box and 8x5 box tip by hand for easy unloading.
- Westbrook and Glenvale: on the western edge. Landscaping and building jobs suit the 8x5 hydraulic tipper or the 10x6 flat top.
- Rangeville: across town on the eastern side. Book online, pick up when it suits, and avoid the weekday traffic.
- Highfields: north of the city. Acreage and garden loads suit the hydraulic tipper or the 12x6 tandem with ramps.
- Wilsonton: north-west Toowoomba. Car trailer hire for moving a car, a project car or a ride-on mower.
Common questions
What licence do I need to tow a hire trailer?
A Queensland car (C class) licence lets you drive a car with or without a trailer, as long as the car is within C class limits (up to 4.5 t GVM). Check any conditions on your own licence. Source: qld.gov.au, Licence types, classes and conditions.
Can my vehicle tow the trailer I want?
The loaded trailer must stay within your vehicle's towing capacity and your towbar's rating, whichever is lower. Each trailer's listing shows its ATM (the most it can weigh loaded) and its tare (empty weight). Our Drayton trailers range from 750 kg ATM (8x5 box) to 3,500 kg ATM (car trailer, 10x6 flat top and 8x5 hydraulic tipper). All of them use a 50 mm tow ball.
Do I need a brake controller in my vehicle?
Trailers over 750 kg must have brakes, and trailers over 2,000 kg need brakes on all wheels plus a breakaway system (Australian Design Rule 38/05). Our trailers are built to these rules. The car trailer, 12x6 tandem and 10x6 flat top have an Elecbrake controller fitted, so you don't need one in your vehicle. The 8x5 tandem and 8x6 heavy box have override brakes, and the 8x5 box (750 kg) has no brakes. The 8x5 hydraulic tipper has electric brakes but no controller fitted, so you'll need an electric brake controller in your vehicle, or add the Elecbrake module when you book. The 750 kg limit is the loaded weight on the trailer's axles (GTM). Over 2,000 kg, the brakes must be able to be worked from the driver's seat.
Do I need to pay to book?
Yes. Your trailer is booked once you've paid online. Until payment goes through, it's still available to other customers, so book and pay as soon as you know your dates.
Can I pick up or return outside business hours?
Yes. Book and pay online 24/7. Access instructions are sent once your booking is paid, so you can pick up and return any time, including nights and weekends.
What do I need to bring?
A vehicle with a 50 mm tow ball and a working 7-pin flat trailer socket (or an adapter), plus straps or a tarp to secure your load. Have your driver licence details ready when you book online.
