Trailer hire for Dalby and the Western Downs
Our yard is at 15 Hospital Road, Dalby. It's handy for Dalby and nearby towns such as Jandowae, Bell, Kaimkillenbun, Cecil Plains and Warra. Because pick-up is self-serve once you've paid, you can come early before work or late after it.
- On the farm: the cattle and horse float for stock, and the 12x7 hydraulic tipper or a 12x6 tandem for feed, fencing gear and gravel.
- Machinery and long loads: the 6.9 m triaxle tilt tray. Call us first so we can check it suits your load and vehicle.
- Moving house: the 12x6 enclosed trailer keeps furniture together. It isn't waterproof, so cover anything that mustn't get wet.
- Events and catering: the cold room trailer runs as a fridge or freezer down to −18°C from a standard 240 V 15 A supply.
- Tip runs and small jobs: the 7x4 and 8x5 box trailers tip by hand and need no brakes.
- Cars: four car trailers with ramps and a hand winch.
Common questions
What licence do I need to tow a hire trailer?
A Queensland car (C class) licence lets you drive a car with or without a trailer, as long as the car is within C class limits (up to 4.5 t GVM). Check any conditions on your own licence. Source: qld.gov.au, Licence types, classes and conditions.
Can my vehicle tow the trailer I want?
The loaded trailer must stay within your vehicle's towing capacity and your towbar's rating, whichever is lower. Each trailer's listing shows its ATM (the most it can weigh loaded) and its tare (empty weight). Our Dalby trailers range from 750 kg ATM (7x4 and 8x5 box) to 4,500 kg ATM (6.9 m triaxle tilt tray). All use a 50 mm tow ball except the triaxle, which comes with its own 70 mm ball hitch for a 50 mm square tow-bar receiver.
Do I need a brake controller in my vehicle?
Trailers over 750 kg (loaded, GTM) must have brakes. Over 2,000 kg they need brakes on all wheels that you control from the driver's seat, plus a breakaway system (Australian Design Rule 38/05). At Dalby, the car trailer, 12x6 tandem, 12x7 tipper, cattle and horse float, enclosed trailer and 6.9 m triaxle all have an Elecbrake controller fitted, so you don't need one in your vehicle. The 10x6 tandem and cold room trailer have override brakes, and the 7x4 and 8x5 box trailers (750 kg) have no brakes.
Are there cleaning fees?
The cattle and horse float has a $160 cleaning fee and the cold room trailer an $80 cleaning fee. Each is added at the start of the hire and refunded in full if the trailer comes back clean.
Do I need to pay to book?
Yes. Your trailer is booked once you've paid online. Until payment goes through, it's still available to other customers, so book and pay as soon as you know your dates.
Can I pick up or return outside business hours?
Yes. Book and pay online 24/7. Access instructions are sent once your booking is paid, so you can pick up and return any time, including nights and weekends.
What do I need to bring?
A vehicle with a 50 mm tow ball and a working 7-pin flat trailer socket (or an adapter), plus straps or a tarp to secure your load. Have your driver licence details ready when you book online. The 6.9 m triaxle is different: it comes with a 70 mm ball hitch, so your vehicle needs a 50 mm square tow-bar receiver.
